What does Focal do?

Focal turns physically highlighted PDF pages into reviewed presentation graphics and exports PNG, PDF, and editable layered PowerPoint files.

Is Focal an AI or OCR service?

No. Focal uses deterministic marker recognition and does not provide an OCR service. Every detected passage and finished output requires human review against the original PDF.

Where does Focal process documents?

PDF content, rendered pages, selections, previews, projects, and exports are processed in the browser. Focal does not provide an application document-upload endpoint, document database, or cloud document synchronization.

Which files and browsers are supported?

The supported path is a standard, unencrypted PDF in a current Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome browser on a supported Windows work computer. The current limit is 30 pages and 120 MB per PDF.

What can Focal export?

Focal exports PNG, PDF, and editable layered PowerPoint files. PowerPoint exports include editable text boxes plus movable and resizable source-context and callout images.

Does Focal redact documents?

No. Focal is not a redaction or de-identification tool. Source pages, surrounding context, saved projects, and exports must be handled under the customer's matter-security rules.

Is human review required?

Yes. The original PDF remains the authoritative source. A qualified member of the legal team must compare every selected passage and finished output with the source before presentation, filing, production, or sharing.

What does Focal Professional cost?

Focal Professional is $79 USD per named user per month or $790 USD per named user per year. Taxes, if applicable, are calculated at checkout.
